the marigold project

In October thousands of golden blooms illuminate an empty lot in downtown Hazel Park.  Richard Gage Design Studio and  anhelo anhelo come together with a couple hundred Detroit area farmers, artists and residents to build a community-wide project that features a farmer’s market, zine workshops, and an immersive public art installation.
Throughout metro Detroit, farms and community gardens, local businesses and schools in Hazel Park, and any interested residents were mailed marigold seeds, sowed and nurtured the plants through the summer months and were called on to harvest the marigold blooms and bring the fruit of this collective process to build something larger together.
